Marshmello being sued for alleged copyright infringement

Marshmello and Bastille are getting sued by ARTY for alleged copyright infringement.

ARTY is claiming that the song ‘Happier’ by the duo, which performed well on charts across the globe, including the Coca-Cola Top40SA with Carl Wastie, stole from his remix of One Republic’s ‘I Lived’, claiming that 19 of the first 20 notes in the melody of ‘Happier’ are the exact same as in his remix.

For comparison, the section begins at 0:49 in the below video for ‘Happier’ and at 1:49 in the one for ‘I Lived’.

On Saturday, 25 May 2019, Carl Wastie did the comparison of both songs on the#CokeTop40CT – but neither he nor the chart show team can spot the infringement.
